I spearheaded the planning and organization of a faculty recognition event styled after a film festival. With the growing number of faculty producing high quality media for their courses, I had an urge to create an educational film festival. With the cooperation and financial support of the Office of the Provost, the Faculty Development Team, and eCampus, we planned, scheduled, advertised, and put on the film festival in April of 2019, with very short lead time (about seven weeks). We named them the Learnie Awards. Our venue held 110 people and we saw attendance of over 90. The site for the event, learnies.uaf.edu features more details and the nature of the awards. I’m proud of this effort due to the successful collaboration across campus units and the ability to elevate and recognize hardworking faculty.
